Haflinger book by Johannes Schweisgut
„Haflinger, the golden horse with the golden heart“, is not the title but also the character of the breed. Haflinger horses with their chestnut colour and white mane are know throughout the world for their good character and queit temperament. This book gives an insight into the creation of the breed , its worldwide spread, training and the Tyrolean Haflinger Breeders' Association with the association's stud farm Fohlenhof Ebbs. It documents the development and the current situation and everything you wanted to know about the breed. An international stallion stud book allows each individual purebred haflinger to be traced back to the creation of the breed in 1874.
The Haflinger, created in 1874, spread through the central alpine region until 1945. Since then it has developed into a world breed and is bred in more than 60 countries throughout the world. This book describes not only the creation but also helps to understand and love the Haflinger with its unique character.
A lot of information is provided on the worldwide situation of breeding and the developments in the most important Haflinger centres in the world. The Tyrolean Haflinger Breeders' Assocaition and the world centre of the breed, Fohlenhof Ebbs are of course the focal point. Without the pioneer spirit and endurance of the Tyrolean association there would be no Haflinger as world breed. This standard work documents the adherence to the principle of pure breeding and with that the consolidation to a completely independent breed. as completely independent Eine breite Information erfolgt über den weltweiten
In the area of training the reader is conveyed the correct path from foal to leisure partner and is also told about feeding, stables and health. Mare families and international stallion lines round off this new standard work on the Haglinger breed.
The author, Johannes Schweisgut, has life-long experience with this horse and has been breeding manager of the Tyrolean Haflinger Breeders' Association for more than 20 years and therefore not only significantly responsible for the qualitative improvement in the past but also has theoretical knowledge through the managment of the association's own stud farm, Fohlenhof Ebbs, and the daily contact with this horse. Fohlenhof is not only a breeding centre but also the training centre of the Tyrolean association and therefore offers the opportunity to experience every day the results of the breeding guidlines and measures. This book therefore presents the experience of a breeding manager and also the experience of a breeding and riding operation with more than 100 horses.
The international stallion stud book has almost all purebred stallions worldwide. It can be used to trace back practically every Haflinger on the stallion side right back to the creation of the breed.
