Tyrolean Haflinger - Filly auction at Fohlenhof Ebbs

The annual highlight for all Haflinger breeders, not only in Tyrol but throughout the world, is the auction on the last Saturday in September at Fohlenhof in Ebbs. The association’s stud farm was founded in 1947 for breeding young stallions from the breeding region. At that time the Tyrolean Association leased one of the two current stables. Subsequently Fohlenhof Ebbs was continuously extended and new parts were bought or renovated. Today after 60 years Fohlen Ebbs has become the intellectual centre of the Haflinger breed and based on the many stallions but especially to the thousands of fillies that have been sold to over 60 states the cradle of the international success of the breed. Without the Tyrolean Association, the stud farm Fohlenhof and the annual auction the worldwide success and enormous proliferation would not have been possible. The breed Haflinger is therefore inseparably connected to Fohlenhof Ebbs. With the Haflinger the state of Tyrol has a unique animal that is directly associated with this Austrian state. The Tyrolean Haflinger is not only a cultural asset but also a worldwide ambassador for our country. Fohlenhof Ebbs is known by all Haflinger breeders all over the world and is an international meeting place.    

The 2011 auction will again be a great Haflinger festival and there will be innumerable visitors and many buyers from different nations who will enjoy the interesting and electric atmosphere at Fohlenhof Ebbs on this weekend. On this day the „Dow Jones“ of the Haflinger breed will be established with different average and top prices but also with prices in the lower category.

The auction weekend starts again in 2011 with the traditional Haflinger Show on the 24th of September at 17:00 in the Fohlenhof arena. In this compressed show of about 60 minutes the universal use of the Haflinger horse in all horse sports will be shown. This show will demonstrate the potential of the modern purebred Haflinger. The highlight, of course, is the auction on Saturday, the 24th of September. From 07:00 until 08:30 the foals will be delivered, checked by the vet. and given their second vaccination. Afterwards they can be inspected in the large tent and then the auction starts. All foals are naturally segregated according to bloodline and classified in the catalogue and the starting price or auction grades are according to this classification.  Even now you can be sure that there will be buyers, possible buyers and onlookers at Ebbs.

Another highlight on this weekend will be the Haflinger Stalion Show on Sunday the 25^th of September 2011, starting at 11:00. ,

Whether seller, buyer, visitor or Haflinger friend because the goal of the Haflinger Breeders‘ Association Tyrol is to satisfy everybody and therefore continue the success of the breed.
