The largest horse breed show in the world with over 1,000 Haflinger horses is a breed event and show with an international equestrian flair under the motto “The Golden Horse with the Golden Heart”.
Ebbs, Tyrol and the world-famous Haflinger breed enjoy an inseparable bond. The World Haflinger Federation has been organizing a Haflinger World Show every five years. Thanks to its excellent organisation in the past, the Tyrolean Haflinger Horse Breeders Association has been entrusted again with organising the 2010 Haflinger World Show, running from June 2nd through to the 6th. This international event will again shine the spotlight on Ebbs and the Haflinger horse and draw the attention of horse breeders around the globe.

The Tyrolean Haflinger Horse Breeders Association was founded in 1920, and since 1947 it has been hosting international shows on a regular basis. Every 5 years since 1990 all four world shows have convened at the World Haflinger Centre of Fohlenhof. Besides only pure-bred Haflinger horses with a registered lineage, the programme has featured exciting complementary events in the past and will offer them again in the proven format during the fifth Haflinger Wold Show in 2010. The Haflinger World Show rightfully deserves its name and international reputation.  Like in 2005, more than 750 horses from at least 15 nations – even beyond European borders – will be participating in the exhibition. In addition, 350 foals and show horses will take part in the show, bringing the number of Haflingers to be seen in Ebbs on each of these five days to more than 1,000. This makes the Haflinger World Show the largest Horse breed event world-wide.
A very impressive stable tent will be housing a total of 800 horses. In line with the rules of the World Haflinger Federation and Tyrolean Association only pure-bred Haflinger horses will be shown in this exclusive breed event. Unique in the world of breed shows, all horses will be presented in family line groups as a visualization of how the breed has been preserved over many generations. Like in the past, a tent village will be set up for the many Haflinger horses and exhibitors, and the Fohlenhof Arena with its roofed grandstands and a show area of 1,500 sqm will be able to accommodate 4,000 visitors. Parking for all cars will be in the immediate vicinity of the Fohlenhof show ground. The Haflinger World Show is accessible in any weather conditions since all audience areas are covered and the events take place in a confined area in the heart of the stud farm.

Visitors can watch the horses throughout the day while they are being judged and ranked. The world show winners of the individual classes will be presented in the arena on a daily basis and the event’s highlight is the decision on the World Champion Mare and Stallion. As part of the horse exhibit, there will be many trade stands displaying horse-related products and handicrafts. Of course, visitors can also enjoy Tyrolean delicacies in a large VIP area and they will be served by friendly Tyrolean hosts.

The Haflinger’ versatility in a large variety of areas will be showcased on every show day in an international show lasting more than two hours. Various countries will present typical national demonstrations. Horsemanship will be on display at those show programmes with focus on classic dressage, but also alternative riding styles such as western riding and side-saddle presentations will of course play their parts as well. Vaulting, hungarian post, dressage on the long reins, horse soccer, and many other equestrian skills will be performed including a show in driving ranging from one to six in hand, to obstacle driving and marathon demonstration . The more than 100-year history of Haflinger breeding will be honoured with traditional displays. Action, fun, entertainment and sportsmanship will be presented in this unique show put on by only one breed: the Haflinger – and proudly, this breed will again demonstrate its proverbial versatility. As was the case with the past Haflinger world shows, the utmost of Haflinger enthusiasm will be evident with the competitors, horses, and the audience. Approximately 30 different show points have been planned for the programme involving more than ten countries; this in addition to the breed programme, means a world record for a single breed. In 2010, the Haflinger will not only demonstrate a suggestion that this is the biggest breed show of the world, but it will also show the breeding development of an absolute pure-bred horse for more than 20 generations. It will prove the suitability of the Haflinger horse for sports and leisure activities through an impressive show deemed to be the best horse event of the year.
