In the Haflinger Horse Breeding Association Tyrol since 1947
Traditional stallion selection at Fohlenhof Ebbs
07 February 2027 | Start: 09:30 am
On the first Sunday in February, the traditional Haflinger licensing takes place again at the renowned Fohlenhof Ebbs. This is where the three-year-old stallion licensing candidates of the Haflinger Horse Breeding Association Tyrol present themselves for stallion licensing.
From 9.30 am, the promising young stallions present themselves to the strict licensing committee. The selection is regarded as an essential guarantee for sustainable breeding progress in the Tyrolean Haflinger breed and ensures that only the best stallions are approved for breeding.
Visitors can look forward to an exciting and high-quality horse event in Tyrol - with impressive Haflingers, expert assessment and genuine breeding quality.

Natural rearing at Fohlenhof Ebbs - The Tyrolean way for healthy young Haflinger stallions
A central concern of the Haflinger Horse Breeding Association Tyrol is the natural rearing and keeping of the horses. The young stallions are therefore presented at the licensing in the way that Tyrolean nature intended at this time of year - in their thick winter coats.
A few years ago, the young stallions moved into their first stallion boxes of their own, but they still spend every day together in the herd in the paddock. This natural togetherness strengthens their social behaviour, their robustness and their character - qualities that characterise the Tyrolean Haflinger.
At Fohlenhof Ebbs, this form of species-appropriate rearing has been consciously practised since 1947. The horses are given the time they need to develop healthily and with a strong character. It is not uncommon for even experienced breeders and horse experts to hardly recognise the stallions six months later at the stallion performance test - the development of these naturally reared animals is so impressive.
Our philosophy is clear: we remain true to our mission statement - out of conviction and for the benefit of our Tyrolean Haflinger horses. Even after more than 50 years, we still rely on the tried and tested Tyrolean way and proudly present our stallion candidates from all seven bloodlines - in winter coats, of course, in keeping with the season. Our horses thank us with their health, character and quality - qualities that real horse connoisseurs recognise and appreciate.
Stallions that do not pass the strict licensing process are laid and sold as character horses and leisure partners at the earliest after they have completed their basic training in riding and driving.
